Als ich vor drei Jahren die Windows-PC-Welt verlassen habe, war es mit einem Windows-Notebook in 80% der Fälle nicht möglich, eine vernünftige zweimonitorige Präsentation mit seinem Notebook im Akkubetrieb zu halten. Das war ein Grund für mich, zu Apple zu wechseln. Mit meinem Powerbook hatte ich in drei Jahren um die 20 Präsentationen und mindestens doppelt so viele Tests an neuen Beamer-Konfigurationen und nie ein Problem: Anstecken, läuft. Immer. Keine Auflösung einstellen. Kein Neustart. Kein Dualhead-Treiber-Suchen. Nichts. Läuft. Einfach so.

Ein bisschen enttäuscht wurde ich durch mein MacBook Pro, das über eine DVI-Schnittstelle verfügt, die an dem Powerbook 12” 867 MHz Aluminium nicht vorhanden war. Die Enttäuschung bestand nicht in der neuen Schnittstelle, sondern darin, dass ich nun in meinem Computer die Auflösung des externen Monitors einstellen muss, sofern ich meinen mitgelieferten DVI->VGA-Adapter benutze und der Computer die maximale Auflösung nun nicht mehr selbständig ermitteln kann.

Naja, bei einer kürzlich abgehaltenen Produktvorstellung der Origami-Minicomputer wurde ersichtlich, dass sich bei Microsoft-basierten Systemen in den letzten Jahren offensichtlich nicht allzuviel getan hat:
